Blast the Past
July 1st , 2018 by Marvin Spahn, Philipp Stenger, János Weyhknecht, Nicholas Nickel, Kylan Lenderink, Lucca RiitanoBlast the Past is a VR physics-puzzle in which the player has to control a wrecking ball vehicle, utilizing the vehicle controls, to destroy the last old building in a modern city without damaging any of the nearby skyscrapers.
Responsibilites
- Creation of several assets through 3D Modeling (Crane, Hands, Props, Buildings)
- Technical Art (Rigging and Material creation)
- UI Design in form of advertising screens and diegetic HUDs
My role in this project was mainly focused on the visual realization of the world and crane. I also created, rigged and implemented the gloves the player is using during their gameplay. Furthermore many objects which can be found in the world are created by me as well as the many mock advertisements and user interface elements.
Examples
To immerse the player into the dystopian but funny setting of Blast the Past we decided to implement mock advertising screens that depict puns or just unusual imagery that stuck during our time on the project and studies.
The following gallery shows assets and emvironments as well as buildings that were realized during the production of Blast the Past. Most of which can be dynamically destroyed through Nvidias Blast plugin.
